Ken, the owner, was friendly, accommodating, and great to chat with. The place had only been open for a month, so everything was comfortably simple, though I think it could improve over the coming months. The WiFi was good and fast, dive gear was brand new and well maintained, and each room had its own toilet. The staff were friendly and helpful too.
We only stayed one night, and it felt expensive for what we got. Our room had holes in the sheets. The crew weren't especially welcoming and were nowhere near as friendly as the staff at other dive shops, so we ended up diving somewhere else.
I had one of my worst stays here in January 2020, and it still bothers me enough that I'm writing about it now. The bed was only 2 inches thick, so it felt like sleeping on the hard floor. The sheets were poor quality, and the bedding looked like a random donation from a children's orphanage, uncomfortable for an adult. The bathroom had black mold everywhere, fully exposed where you could see, touch, and breathe it. Within a few hours my nose was stuffed and my eyes were watering. We contacted the front desk, but they said no other rooms were available. The room schedule was written on a whiteboard right behind them, so it seemed like they were lying to our faces. What kind of hospitality is that? It certainly didn't feel Filipino. I also felt bad for the Filipino staff, because the Chinese owner kept yelling at them. It was awkward to witness as a guest. Agoda wouldn't refund the one night we had to stay, so I had to dispute the charge with my credit card. I see the hotel is closed, and I hope it doesn't reopen under the same owner. It felt like a halfway house rather than a hotel. Agoda needs to do more to protect its customers from harmful experiences like this.
The price made this a particularly bad stay. The room had ants, a poor shower, odd air conditioning, and just a small balcony with no furniture. Service was nonexistent. For what you get, the rooms listed on Booking or Agoda are seriously overpriced. One of my worst experiences in the Philippines.
