Pig Dive Hostel

As a solo traveler, I had a very pleasant stay at Pig Dive Hostel. The food was excellent and reasonably priced compared with other restaurants nearby, and I’ll definitely return when I’m back in Moalboal. The staff were courteous, welcoming, and well trained, from the front desk to the chill area and rooftop. The hostel offers thoughtful guest amenities: dorm beds arranged nicely, free earplugs, modern showers, clean restrooms, spacious lockers, and a free shuttle. I highly recommend it to fellow travelers.

The bunks are sturdy and private, with great storage. Free beach towels, sheet changes every 1-2 nights, and shower gel were nice touches that made things feel premium. Pig Dive is friendly, spotless, and perfectly organized, and the staff go above and beyond with hub transfers and booking local tours. The rooftop and kitchen areas are great too. Best hostel experience I’ve had in a long time!

The common area is a lovely, relaxed spot, with a kitchen, free tea and coffee, and cold drinking water. The rooms feel new, the beds and bedding are really comfortable, and the air conditioning works very well. Bathrooms and showers are clean and in great condition. Staff and security are friendly around the clock. A private car to Cebu City or other destinations was the best deal we found, cheaper than booking online or in town. The walk to town takes about 15 minutes, so keep that in mind if walking isn't for you. Tours cost more than the deals in town. The lockers are outside the rooms, which means you don't hear people rummaging through bags, but they have no ventilation and smell damp and mouldy. That smell gets onto your bags. The place is surrounded by a farm, so you can smell the animals and hear goats, roosters, and dogs at all hours.

The rooftop and shared kitchen are beautiful, really laid-back spaces, and the scheduled free shuttle was a big help and saved us money on habal-habal. Staff were friendly and attentive, and I liked the stay enough to come back. The bathroom and toilet were spotlessly clean, with soap, shampoo, tissue, and even alcohol. There was also a free dryer and lots of room for a clothesline or rack. My one concern was that the dorm room had no door key or lock, so anyone could walk in. They do provide keys for the lockers. I'd rate the room security 4/5, though the stay overall was one I enjoyed.
