Herbs Guest House - Adults Only

Kiko had agreed to hold a room for me and my wife for our honeymoon. We planned to arrive the next day, check in, and pay in cash. But the next morning he called to say he’d give the room to other guests unless we paid right away. We weren’t nearby, so he canceled our reservation and left us without a hotel. Unfriendly staff and, in my view, Kiko didn’t keep his word.

The owner’s kindness stood out. We had to leave at 5 a.m. for our flight, and he got up early to make us free sandwiches for the journey. The accommodation and service were excellent too. Having scooter rental right at the property made it easy to explore. There’s a small beach just a 2-minute walk away, and White Beach takes about 10-15 minutes to reach. We had an incredible stay and highly recommend the place.

The service was nice, breakfast was very good, and free water was provided. For the price we paid, it was more than perfect, and I don’t think you can ask for more. Just plan to rent a car or bike, since activities and restaurants are far away. At first glance the place felt cozy and extremely nice, built like typical local accommodation. We had a big room, but I didn’t think it was clean enough and cleaning could be improved a lot. There were many larvae on the wall, which was a bit disgusting, and something in the bathroom was leaking. I couldn’t tell whether it was the toilet or the washbasin.

The room and breakfast were the best parts for me. It was roomy, the bed and pillows were comfortable, and I liked having a separate spot between the bedroom and bathroom for luggage. Breakfast had just three choices, but it was generous and clearly made with care. The Power Bowl stood out, and they even prepared sandwiches for our early checkout. The price felt fair for that much space, and scooter access made the location about 3km from the tourist area workable. The service made the stay less pleasant. The atmosphere felt impersonal, and the receptionist often seemed unhappy and disengaged. Her attempts to be polite came across as insincere, sometimes almost passive-aggressive. The shower pressure was very weak, and during our seven days the room was never cleaned, with no fresh towels or linens. Extras such as airport transfers cost considerably more than in town, and the food menu also seemed overpriced. If affordable, comfortable rooms are your main concern and you can manage with limited service, Herbs Guest House may suit you.
