Sunset Paradise Moaboal

The staff are great and the location is good, but sleep was impossible for me. The hotel sits between two bars, and their music goes on until 3 or 4 in the morning. Some rooms also share a bathroom. Wi-Fi is so-so, and there's no TV, so the room is pretty bare. If you're happy getting drunk, you might manage, but if you want a peaceful rest, look elsewhere. Transport is easy to find, and scooters are really cheap to rent.

The reception staff were lovely and very attentive. The hostel felt more like a 16-bed dorm, with two bathrooms and two showers shared among everyone. The water went out twice, leaving people unable to shower or brush their teeth. We ran into the owner at a nearby restaurant and brought up an issue we'd had. He sorted it out, but he and his friends kept pestering us while we were trying to enjoy our meal :/

The staff were friendly, and there was clean drinking water on the first floor. I liked my room a lot: spacious bathroom, comfortable bed, good AC, and even a full-length mirror. The table had ants on it despite me not bringing any food in. Earplugs were provided, though I didn't use them. People nearby did a fair bit of karaoke, but as a heavy sleeper it didn't bother me much.

The room was very clean, and you can rent bikes there too. Sam (The Owner) is incredibly friendly and has loads of recommendations. We had a great three-night stay.
