Southpoolside Tourist Inn

We stayed for three nights with our family: me, my husband, two babies, and our nanny. The owner was kind and the place felt safe. The room was cozy and spacious, with full air conditioning, hot and cold water in the shower, and a water heater and teacup with saucer that were really convenient. They have rules about cleaning, but because we had the babies with us, they cleaned the room and changed the towels and bedding every day during our stay, even though we’d only requested it for the second day. It was the best experience.

The front desk service was very poor. On our first day, the older woman gave us key 206 even though our room was 207. It sounds like a small mistake, but it could have caused serious trouble if we hadn’t caught it. I was too tired to get angry then, but she never apologized. The next day, I asked for fresh cups, the trash to be taken out, and our towel to be changed because we were staying another night. She didn’t object while I was there. But while I was out taking care of something important, she scolded my helper, saying we had too much trash after just one day, towels only get changed every two days, and replacing cups would cost extra. She called it their policy, though I’d read all the house rules and hadn’t seen that stated. A hotel should be ready for requests like these. When I raised it with her, she simply said I could move out if I didn’t like their policy. My opinion is, if she doesn’t want...

The rooms were clean and very spacious, especially the quadruple room, and the bathrooms were roomy too. We booked three rooms for May 6-7, 2022, during VP Leni’s grand rally: two double occupancy rooms and one quadruple. They had air conditioning and fans, nice facilities, TVs with YouTube and Netflix, free Wi-Fi, and a pool. The rates were very affordable, and my friends and I had a great stay. Staff responded when we needed the automatic gates opened. Booking through Facebook Messenger was the frustrating part. Replies took so long that I thought I wouldn’t manage to reserve rooms. I’d expected a small inn, but it actually has lots of rooms. The lobby is clean, and you need to follow the rules and be respectful to get your P500 security deposit back at checkout. Thanks to my friend for recommending the inn. I’d like to come back for a staycation, and we’ll definitely return if we need somewhere to stay in Naga City!

The younger receptionist was nice, but the older woman and her husband (?) were rude. It felt like having customers was a bother to them. They accused us of something we hadn’t done and kept our $10 (500php) deposit after a misunderstanding. We were afraid to ask questions because we thought we’d get scolded, which no guest should have to deal with. We expected a staycation and left feeling traumatized. I won’t return to this hotel.
