The staff were friendly and accommodating, but service was slow. I had to keep calling the front desk to follow up on requests. During my six-night stay, I was moved between several rooms, and each one had problems. In the first, the toilet clogged, there was no soap holder so I had to put my soap and shampoo on the floor, the air conditioner broke, and the sheets made me itchy. The next room was very dark because the lighting was poor, and it had no hot water. In another, the shower had no holder and I found a cockroach crawling in my bed. The supervisor said the last room was the hotel's best, but its toilet flush kept sticking, so I had to fix it to refill the tank. I got tired of complaining. The Agoda price was affordable, but the stay was stressful and not worth it. The elevator also didn’t work properly: its doors didn’t close normally, it took a long time, and lights for other floors came on without pressing the buttons. Ms. Karen, the supervisor, was very apologetic and helpful, as were the other employees, but the hotel needs renovation and the service needs to improve and respond faster to guests.

The good thing is the central location. Beyond that, our stay was frustrating. We booked online because the place looked good and emailed to ask about early check-in. They said we could check in early if a room was available for 200peso. When we arrived, there were no rooms, so we waited and left our luggage. We came back at 11am and were told a room was available, but then they asked for 200peso per hour, which wasn’t what we’d been told. We went to lunch and returned a few minutes before the standard 2pm check-in time, only to be told the rooms were still being cleaned. We finally got in before 2pm. The room was big and nice, but that was the only good surprise. My husband found pubic hair on the bathroom wall. After two hours, I checked the blankets and found hair and stains on the bed sheets, including what looked like blood on one bed. Disgusting. I called the desk and they changed the sheets in our room and my in-laws’ room, but they giggled while doing it, as if it were funny. We were paying guests and had been told the rooms were cleaned. The advertised Wi-Fi didn’t reach the rooms. When we needed something, we had to ask several times, and the staff could barely understand English. On our second day, my mother-in-law found two people wandering around their room while my father-in-law was in the toilet. I complained, but nothing was done. On the third day, we tried breakfast at the restaurant. The menu was unclear and poorly explained, so I had to ask questions and translate for my husband and in-laws. Staff should be flexible since not every guest speaks the local dialect or Tagalog. The menu promised fresh fruit, but we got two small bananas that looked like they’d been sitting in a corner for ages. The juice was a joke too. They asked my in-laws what kind they wanted, then said they only had pineapple juice. When I asked for the bill, the server had listed a few items because my husband had cancelled the “fresh fruit” since he didn’t like bananas. I hadn’t cancelled mine, but it never arrived. It was so frustrating. I think I made her nervous, because she couldn’t use the calculator properly, even though I was explaining things in Tagalog. Sorry, but I wouldn’t recommend this place. It was a hassle.

The location doesn’t make up for the poor service and amenities. Around 10 pm while we were asleep, lots of water began leaking through the restroom ceiling. We couldn’t even go in to pee or wash our hands. The front desk sent someone to inspect it, but an hour after they left there was no update. When I called again, they told us to sleep it off until the maintenance man came at 8am because they couldn’t do anything else. We asked to move rooms and were told they were fully booked, so nothing could be done. Mold was appearing on the ceiling and the leak got heavier. I had to go down to the desk with photos and videos and say I’d sue if my young boys got sick, since there was already mold. Only then did they give us another room, while saying it was temporary and we’d have to return to the first once it was fixed. I’d post the photos and videos if I could. I’m writing this to spare others such terrible customer service and hopefully reach someone who can make changes. There are other things that need fixing too. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone or wish this experience on anyone. Worst hotel I’ve stayed in. If I could rate it below zero, I would. Contact me for proof.

After a very long trip, I arrived around 1 am exhausted and showed them my booking number, sure I had a room. They wouldn’t let me in, saying they hadn’t received the confirmation. I waited at reception for an hour, then went to find another hotel. Maybe they do this to make you pay the normal rate, which is more than double. They’re scammers. Never again, don’t go there.

Great deals, and a good fit for training sessions and workshops. We chose Starview Hotel, Naga City for its friendly, accommodating staff and easy access to public transport.
