Subic Bay Venezia Hotel

The blanket was as thin as a bedsheet. The toilet was awkward to flush: you have to hold the lever down for 10-15 seconds, and using the bidet requires turning on the sink faucet so water will come through. The aircon was noisy, and the sound system in the videoke room below us made the room vibrate. We could hear people singing loudly from 9:30pm until past 12 midnight, so we couldn't relax and ended up more tired and stressed. I don't recommend this hotel.

The food portions were so small it felt like rationing, and there was no way to get full. The gym was barely big enough for one person, and I saw roaches on the floor the first time I went. The pool was small and didn't look clean. Our room smelled so bad we wanted to go outside just to breathe. The bathroom door was really rusty, and the toilet wouldn't flush. The first time we went in, it smelled like hell. The air conditioner was loud, broken, and couldn't be adjusted, so it kept us from sleeping. Our wifi was awful, though that may have been just our room. Still, every room should get the same maintenance. If you've booked, cancel before wasting your money.

The room felt dim because it had just one frosted window and not enough natural light. Otherwise it was spacious, with working air-conditioning and a clean, roomy bathroom. The water heater worked perfectly and the supply was fine. The staff were helpful and kind.

Being right at the casino was the positive. The hotel felt dated, and the halls smelled of mildew. We paid nearly 4k pesos a night and had to rent a blanket for 250 pesos. Breakfast was included with a choice of silog meals, but half the options weren't available. The menu looked good, yet there was something unavailable at every meal, which was disappointing. The TV had to be unplugged to turn it off. The window AC did get the room cold. At that price we could have done better elsewhere. I'd expect this from a 3 star off the SBMA, but this was disappointing.
