Purple Fountain Inn & Hostel

I’m extremely pleased with this place. It feels like a well-kept upscale B&B in the USA, with lovely rooms and grounds that are far better than other hotels in this price range. There are lots of spots outside to sit with loved ones or guests, and the rooms are a pleasure to be in. The restaurant has a tasty breakfast and a decently sized menu that seems fairly recent. The fruit smoothies were okay, though not as fruity or flavorful as I expected. Staff were good, and airport pickup was fast. We arrived early and were asked to pay 100php/hr for early check-in. The Wi-Fi data rates are relatively low, and the power went out several times during just one morning here.

It feels homey here, and I loved the place. The rooms were clean and well looked after, and the staff were warm and friendly. Service only runs until 9 pm, though, and getting food isn’t always easy. Of the six breakfast items on the menu, only two were available.

The place is cute, the staff are wonderful, and the breakfast we had this morning was very good. But we keep running into the same problem: most of the time there’s no running water. We wake up with none, then come back dirty and tired after a day out and still can’t shower. They should make this clear before people book. Since they know water may not be available, they should have buckets and cups ready instead of making guests ask for them. There are better places to spend your money.

From the road it looks basic, but inside it’s surprisingly nice for the price. The rooms and courtyard are beautifully decorated, the beds are comfortable, and both the air conditioning and hot water worked great. The Wi-Fi was pretty good too. One of the best-value hotels we stayed at on Palawan.
