I chose this place on Agoda because it was affordable and convenient for my trip, but the first impression was unsettling. The area felt eerie. We thought about moving, but were too tired after the journey. There seemed to be very few staff, possibly just one person doing both guard and receptionist duties. The area itself seemed safe, but parking was a problem: the narrow uphill road was difficult to navigate, so we ended up on the crowded roadside. Our room was clean and well kept, but the atmosphere still felt almost haunted. We could hear the elevator from inside. A child often rode a scooter along the hallway, which was startling the first time the elevator opened on our floor and the child was there, and again when we left our room and found the child right outside our door. It probably wasn't a ghost, but the setting made it unsettling. At night, we could hear the scooter going back and forth and the elevator moving constantly, even though we rarely saw other tenants. We didn't meet other guests until our last day, perhaps because I usually left early and came back late. Despite the clean room, I don't want to return.
The rooms are good and so is the location, but the restroom smells bad and water pools on the floor overnight. The bathroom floor needs better sloping. You can also hear noise from outside because the room isn't soundproof, and there's a large false wall near the main door. There should be someone at reception around the clock instead of relying on the guard. They need to spend on better quality and service.
After a 16 hour drive, we arrived to find the hotel had cancelled our reservation without any warning or notice. Apparently there are scheduling problems between OYO and the hotel operators that can lead to cancellations without guests being told. The desk staff, unlike the nice security guard, wouldn't provide contact details to get a refund because the booking was made through OYO. They said they didn't have a number, even though there were OYO logos all over the walls. Security guy, you're cool, though.
On my recent visit, two weeks after the first planned stay, construction was happening beside the hotel. They gave me a room right next to it, with the window blocked, and I felt isolated. The receptionist was nice but didn't tell me about the room situation. I asked to move, but every other room was taken. On my original stay date, the elevator was being repaired and I was sent to a nearby hotel. I should have been told about that in advance.
The bed is comfortable and the price is very affordable, and the guard was especially kind and cooperative. It's near EDSA, but I wouldn't suggest staying here for a vacation or a longer visit. The rooms are dirty, including the comfort room, they smell weird, and at night there are LOTS of cockroaches. You can read plenty of other comments about that too. You can hear couples in the neighboring rooms, and the parking is the scariest part, 0/5. I'd rate the rooms 1/5, service 2/5, and location 3/5. Bring your own towels and sanitizing kit, and maybe bleach for the toilet and multi insect cleaner. Sanitize everything for your safety. The lobby and many other areas need improvement too, they smell really gross.
