The beach and pool were great, and the location was good. It’s fine for a few nights. Front desk staff were really great, but restaurant staff could be more attentive. We could lie on the loungers or stay on the beach all day without anyone checking on us, so we had to keep going to the restaurant to order whenever we wanted something. The included buffet breakfast was basic and not very good. The food was cold even though they had equipment to keep it warm, which they didn’t use. There weren’t many vegetarian or vegan options beyond bread, pancakes, or fried rice. After just having coffee or juice here, we went somewhere else for a big breakfast. The room was okay, but the bathroom design was one of the worst. It looked like a regular sliding patio door had been used as the bathroom wall and door. Shower water collects in the door tracks, where you can see dried mold, soap scum, and dirt. It would be hard to clean unless someone did it after every guest. We loved the beach and pool, but we saw some great nearby places too if beachfront access isn’t as important.

Maria at reception went above and beyond during our four-night birthday trip. She told us on arrival that the temporary WiFi only worked near the restaurant and pool. Our room was too far away to get a signal, and there was no SMART data inside either. Since I needed to stay reachable for work at night, I explained the problem to Maria. She apologized, spoke with her manager, and within a few minutes offered to move us to a family room closer to the restaurant. We switched rooms and could connect. The Holiday Suites PB staff were phenomenal and very accommodating with our requests. We loved the location, and even during the Port Barton power outage, their generator meant we barely noticed it. Only the hot water went out, which was perfectly fine in summer. I had an amazing birthday trip. Thanks to Maria and the management. I’ll definitely stay again!

The rooms are lovely, and the service was impeccable. We arrived right in the middle of a town-wide power outage, which was far from ideal, but Maria was a credit to the hotel. She was attentive and helpful from the start, kept checking that we were okay, and made sure we had the latest updates while the power was out. Afterwards, she gave us a partial refund for the inconvenience, even though the outage wasn’t their fault. I’d definitely stay here again in Port Barton. Thank you, Maria, for making a difficult situation as good as it could be.

This is about our two latest stays, in March 2025 and May 2026. Our first visits in Oct & Nov ‘23 & ‘24 were completely different, with none of these problems. Despite low occupancy and a request in the booking comments for a ground-floor room, we were assigned upstairs rooms on the outside of the building. We had to maneuver around big black trash bags, one with old balloons visible inside, and a tired dog that I had to step over to get into our room. It made us wonder whether rooms like these were being offered to employees or long-term residents. Some ground-floor rooms seemed to be used for housekeeping supplies and towels. We walked past rooms where the drapes weren’t fully closed, and all the racks previously used for drying swimsuits and towels were empty. Online reservations were difficult. The calendar showed no availability when the place clearly wasn’t full. The music was sometimes so loud it was hard to talk with my husband. The male workers were personable and worked hard, but one female worker was particularly rude. I was trying to ask for help with a fan, but the music was too loud for her to hear me. She kept asking, “what do you want?” The music needs to be turned down, and staff should come out from behind the counter to help instead of having 5-7 employees chatting around the registration desk. Someone from the corporate office should make a surprise visit to see what’s going on. This feels like just the tip of the iceberg. WiFi only worked in the restaurant patio area. Power went off for 1-2 hours each night, leaving us without lights or air conditioning. Meanwhile, there was a brand new sign advertising happy hour to attract beach traffic, like other local bars. Hotel guests seemed to be a low priority. This isn’t right.

The rooms were clean and came with a full set of toiletries, and there’s a generator for power outages. It’s a luxurious beachfront hotel in Port Barton, with beach restaurants easy to reach. We’d happily stay here again on our next visit.
