La Ud Lounge and Hostel

What made our stay special was the staff at La Ud. They were so friendly and accommodating, and singing and playing along with them was a unique, fun memory to take home. We’ll definitely return, and I’d recommend it for a relaxed beachfront stay with good food and even better people. It was our first visit to La Union, and booking through Agoda was easy. After a recent storm we weren’t sure about going, but the property replied quickly and kindly and offered to reschedule if needed. The weather cleared, so we kept our original dates. The place was easy to find, right on the beach, and had a laid-back feel. There was chill music at night and the sound of waves in the morning, just what we needed after the storm. The free breakfast was a nice bonus.

If you care more about an affordable, handy location than fancy decor, this is a good fit. The rooms at Laud Lounge are simple but clean, and having a private shower and toilet made a big difference. It’s just minutes to walk back from the beach or nearby bars. The B1T1 drinks were a nice extra.

There was no parking at Laud, so we had to leave the car at a faraway paid lot charging 50/hr plus a 500 peso overnight fee. The overnight parking came to 600 total, and we took a tricycle back. In our room we found a large cockroach in the comfort room. We wanted to shower before going out, but there was no water. Staff said it had been out since that morning and they were already contacting someone to fix the system. We went out hoping it would be back when we returned, but at around 1 am it still wasn’t working. The owner refused our request for a 50% refund and acted as if nothing had happened. Never again.
