Marlins Beach Resort

We left after one night, lost the payment for both non-refundable rooms, and moved to Anica Resort. The noise from nearby bars went late, and we couldn't sleep. In the second set of rooms, the AC started making a loud noise too. We'd first been given rooms 10 and 11, which were disgusting. Both entry doors were broken, the AC units looked as if they'd never been cleaned, the windows were dirty, and the towels stained. The rooms were definitely outdated. When we complained, they said we could move to better rooms. Why weren't those offered at check-in? Those rooms were only okay, and we still couldn't sleep because of the AC and bar noise. Shame on the websites for giving such high reviews. All lies! Go somewhere else for a better trip to Bantayan Island. I'm so angry!

The staff were very nice, and the location was nice too, but it was so windy that swimming was difficult. You have to walk to Kota Beach. The hotel is old, and the bathroom smelled after a day. WiFi was better than at other places, but the safe was out of service, as was the TV. We paid 200 US Dollars for two nights, which is completely crazy for what you get. The fridge was very loud, and breakfast was basic.

The trip from Mactan took about seven hours, and we arrived in weather that was almost typhoon-like. Even so, the resort and its surroundings looked beautiful, with plenty of genuine local amenities. I asked my wife what we'd spend on an afternoon of food and drinks, and the bill was less than half what we'd guessed. I'd rather stay here for weeks than just a few days.

The location is lovely, but the service was a disappointing way to end the meal. We patiently waited for our pizza, understanding it was Valentine's Day. When the Coke had some kind of stain, which I thought might have come from the metal cap, I didn't want to risk drinking it and asked for a replacement. The waiter still said she'd charge us for it. She also didn't need to be so hostile when I politely asked what FB meant, FYI, Flavoured Beer. I couldn't understand her a couple of times, and then she said something in Tagalog to the security guard that I couldn't understand either.
