The Victorian

For a few days, this was all we needed: a clean, spacious room, hot shower, and quiet air conditioning. It’s reasonably priced and well located, with just a short walk to the beach.

The owner was genuinely kind and accommodating, going above and beyond to help us feel comfortable. The other staff were a different experience: they seemed cold toward us and didn’t offer help even when it was clear we were struggling with basic things like preparing dinner. We had to ask directly for every necessity, including tables, chairs, and plates. More proactive help would have made a real difference. The location is handy, close to basic necessities and right by the national road, so it’s easy to get around the island. The rooms are spacious, and the price is budget-friendly. But on the third floor, the toilet and shower rooms are very small and poorly ventilated. Only one toilet has an exhaust fan, and even that space feels barely large enough for the bowl, with hardly any room for the person using it. It could suit someone wanting an affordable stay, a spacious room, and a wonderful owner. Just expect cramped third-floor bathrooms and be direct with the other staff when you need something.

We were glad we switched hotels while waiting for the typhoon to pass in Santa Fe. The room is clean, the Wi-Fi connection is good, and the bed is comfortable. There are windows, so it doesn’t feel confining.

We stayed here for our whole Bantayan trip. It was just far enough from the center and beach sides that we didn’t hear parties at night, but close enough to walk to both.
