Sugar Beach House - Sipalay

The clean, peaceful beach and those beautiful sunsets right in front of the hotel made this a perfect place to unwind after more than 30 hours of travel. We wound up extending our stay on the spot. Every room is different, with thoughtful touches and little pieces of art. There was always something new to notice, almost like staying inside an art installation. The team were friendly and truly helpful from the start. The food was outstanding, with delicious choices for meat eaters and vegetarians alike. And the bed might be even more comfortable than ours at home. Thanks so much to Marc and the whole team for the warm hospitality. We'll be back!

The creative, whimsical design around the resort made it feel special, from the artistic theme rooms to the interesting artwork. I'm a big guy, and my friend and I were traveling together, so I stayed in the cave room. The beach was amazing, the water was lovely, the pool was great, and the food was delicious. The staff were friendly, too. This is one of my favorite resorts I've ever stayed at. I almost don't want to tell too many people, since I like places that aren't overrun with tourists. It made my last trip to the Philippines especially memorable.

I've lived in the Philippines for about nine years, and this is by far the best resort I've stayed at. The themed rooms are amazing, with incredible imagination and creativity in the design. Marc, the owner, was kind and accommodating, and the staff were absolutely great. We spent four nights there, and went SCUBA diving with sea explorers next door for three days. Takatuka's food was delicious, with a huge selection. I especially recommend the Mabuhay dish, Mahi Mahi soup with big chunks of fish, and it was really tasty. We ate every meal there and every one was incredible. My wife, I, and another couple had a favorite table. For the last two days, the staff put a reserved sign on it without us even asking. The rooms were spotless, with great A/C and hot showers. It's right on Sugar Beach, and even the pool is a work of art, with a bubble tub in the middle. We'll definitely be back!

We didn't actually stay at the resort because I entered the wrong dates when I made the reservation. The property looked very impressive when we arrived, but there was no availability for the dates we really wanted. We spoke with Marc, the owner, and although the policy is no refunds, he agreed to return the money because the date mistake was mine. He refunded the full amount, just as promised. If we visit Sipalay again, we'd happily stay at Takatuka Resort. I'd recommend visitors to the area take a look at this lovely property. Thanks, Marc.
