RQS Hostel

We're traveling by car, so safe, secure parking matters a lot, and this hostel has it for 100php per night. If you're bringing a car, get the superior queen room, which is right beside the parking area. The room is spacious and has a working desk, and it's a great value. They also serve breakfast. This will definitely be our go-to place if we need to stay overnight in Tacloban again!

The hostel looks great, but they aren't giving seniors the 20% discount required by Philippine law. Seniors are also exempt from VAT, so if they're not applying the discount, I suspect they may be charging seniors VAT as well. They may not know the law, but this seems like underhanded theft. We'll report them to the governing authorities. I hope future seniors won't have to deal with this. If they respond positively and start operating in accordance with the law, I'll be happy to change this review.

The peaceful atmosphere made this feel like a real escape, and the price was unbelievably reasonable for the comfort and quality. The beds, quiet rooms, bathrooms with hot showers, and amazing breakfast were all top-notch. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I wholeheartedly recommend this hotel for an unforgettable stay.

The team were very friendly, and I loved the place. It's a little outside the center but not far, and tricycles can find it easily. From the center, don't let them charge more than 50 or 60 pesos, especially during the day. At night I paid 80. My room was large, clean, and quiet, and there's a real garden inside. They arranged a reasonably priced airport transfer for me in the middle of the night. I'll come back. There are a few very friendly cats, and you can tell from their behavior that they're loved and well treated, so don't stay if you're allergic. I also saw a small dog and parrots, though I didn't interact with them. I wasn't very keen on breakfast, but nobody makes you take it.
