The air conditioning worked well and the WiFi was tolerable, but I left after two hours. The place felt like a dump. The lights were flashing like something in a haunted house, and the shower had mud and hair in it. I asked them to clean it, but afterward I could still scrape dark stuff off the faucet with my fingernail. The bed frame bars came through the mattress, so I moved it onto the floor. Under it, I found trash and a phone charger on the tile. I decided to leave. The toilet tank also had no water to flush with. Maps showed P1,300 for an overnight stay, but the front desk said it was P1,500 for two hours. I’d rather pay more and go than pay less and stay.

We only lasted a day because we couldn’t put up with the room anymore. There were dogs barking in the middle of the night, and no charging port, so we had to call someone downstairs for help. When we went upstairs, they hadn’t given us the WiFi name or password, so we had to go back down and ask. At first glance the room seemed okay, but the bathroom was dirty, and there were cobwebs on the ceiling. The water in the tub looked cloudy before we used it, so we showered instead. At least there was hot water.

The loud radio music at night was a problem, and people were smoking in the hallways of air-conditioned areas. Smoking should be limited to designated outdoor spots. Some facilities were broken, and the plumbing needs work. They also kept forgetting basics like toilet paper and trash cans in the rooms, so we had to remind them repeatedly.

The beds were comfortable, the old AC helped with the heat, and there was free hot and cold drinking water from the lobby dispenser. The showers had hot water too. We stayed because this pension house was nearby and within walking distance of where we needed to go. There were hardly any other guests while we were there. Connectivity was poor. WiFi only worked on the first floor, and staff typed in the password instead of giving it to us. There was no cell signal in first-floor rooms and only a very weak one on the second floor. They said the rooms were “sound proofed.” The first room had a toilet door that wouldn’t close and a flush that didn’t work. A repairman came, but it was still broken, so we asked for a bucket and dipper. They had also left out the trash bin, tissue paper, and TV remotes. We moved to another floor and room. There, the sink faucet was loose and wobbling, the water pressure was poor at the faucet and shower, and the toilet still struggled to flush. The bottom closet drawer was full of wood scraps and screws, so it couldn’t be used. Cigarette smoke filled the hall and lobby despite the big “No Smoking” signs, and it seemed to be staff smoking. They gave us a Glade air freshener both times we complained. The smell triggered an asthma attack. On the last night, all the fire alarms went off, smoke came under our door, and we found a big cloud of white smoke in the hallway. Staff said they smoke in the halls and rooms every Friday to “drive out spirits.” We had to go outside for fresh air, and my mom had a coughing and crying fit that needed medication. With Catholic statues in the lobby, we wondered if they’d heard of holy water.

I was only there briefly after being invited to perform solo at a Debutante’s Ball, so that’s why I gave it this rating. 😅
