The family villas gave us plenty of space, and the place felt spotless and welcoming from the moment we arrived. I even checked under the beds because I’m careful about dust mites, and it was perfectly clean. The design blends Southeast Asian style with Japanese elegance in a way that felt relaxing for the kids and adults alike. We came from Singapore and had a fantastic stay. The resort is brand new, and the value felt much better than the big, older chain hotels nearby, even though it shares the same prime location. The TV and Wi-Fi worked just like they do at home. It’s also a professional Scuba Dive Centre, with a great kids’ program and special diving books to help children feel confident. Thanks to the owner for the free Christmas party and food, such a thoughtful, warm gesture. Having a room key for the three-minute shortcut to the beach through the Best Western Plus was another big bonus. Highly recommend it for families and divers!

We skipped breakfast because it cost 20-30% more than a fast-food place 100-200 meters away with the same, or even better, menu. For ₱3800, including breakfast would have made the stay an even better deal. The room was probably the largest we’ve stayed in, and the Wi-Fi was excellent even inside, so working there is definitely possible. The pool was fun too. At 10 feet deep it wasn’t the biggest we’ve had, but it worked for swimming laps and doing a few fun dives. Everything was working, including the water pressure and heater, and the TV had Netflix. It felt worth the price.

The rooms were comfortable enough, and the location is probably the best thing about this budget-friendly hotel. Just keep your expectations modest. We stayed three days and had no hot water the whole time.

Not recommended for families, and the price really isn’t reasonable. At this rate, you can stay somewhere better. The bar out back stays noisy all night, there’s no elevator, and there’s no hot water at night. There’s also no resort security, so crime could be a concern. The front desk is closed at night with nobody there.

The staff made our stay special. They were genuinely kind and went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. We couldn’t recommend Mayfair Garden Resort more highly. It was our favorite place in the Philippines, with clean, luxurious rooms that felt like a five-star hotel at a fraction of the price. If you’re going to Alona Beach in Panglao, this is the place to stay.
