Holiday Plaza Hotel

The hotel has a lot of potential, but it needs upkeep and attention to detail. It’s a large place, and I can imagine it in its glory days. We arrived late at night, and the staff were nice and helped with our bags. Our room was clean and spacious, though the furniture was bulky, old, and creaky, and the bathroom needs an upgrade. The complimentary breakfast was chaotic both mornings. No one was in the lobby when we came down the first day; a uniformed staff member was cleaning motorcycle chains outside. A couple of staff came later with snacks from outside, asked what we wanted, and went to prepare it. While we waited, they laughed so loudly that we could hear them in the dining area. The next day was much the same. They were nice people, but lacked professionalism. After breakfast, another uniformed staff member sat by the lobby TV playing on his phone with the volume up. When we left for the day, the parking lot was covered in dry leaves, the trash was overflowing, and the restaurant tarp was in disarray. I don’t know if the owner still cares about the place. At least the linens were clean, and there were no bedbugs or cockroaches.

Our booking went badly because of AGODA, and I’m sorry, but we had to go back and forth between HOLIDAY PLAZA and AGODA. It felt like the old bait-and-switch: we were overcharged and didn’t get the full refund we’d agreed on.

The crew were friendly and helpful, but could use more training. The hotel needs renovation and wasn’t in a proper state to receive guests. Furniture was outdated, and things were broken, malfunctioning, or out of order. The pictures were completely different from what we found. Location is the only thing going for it, but after this experience, I can’t recommend it even for that. The AC was old and too small for the room. We tried four rooms and couldn’t find one with a properly working unit.

My room had no window, I couldn’t get a Globe connection, and the safe wasn’t working. Everything else I needed was provided, so I have no other complaints.
