The place is lovely, but the service and upkeep were very poor. The food earned the two stars, though it was served cold. The front desk was very unfriendly and didn’t seem glad we’d booked. The owner should focus on service training. Maintenance needs attention too, especially the bathroom: the shower wouldn’t give a proper temperature and only a little water came out.

Keep in mind that the four-star rating applies to the hotel as a whole, not to every room, so not all rooms are four-star standard. For the price, the room was decent, but nowhere near a four-star room. Breakfast was included, of course, and smokers can use the courtyard or parking area.

We were so impressed with the service that we stayed twice, both on the way up and back. The hotel is right among the World Heritage listed buildings, and there are plenty of nearby places to eat at different price points. The rooms were spacious. Both times we booked family rooms, numbers 15 and 17, each easily fit 8 persons. Breakfast was included for 5 people, with an extra charge per person beyond that, and it was good.

The manager was friendly and refunded the first night after I finally got a meeting with her two days in. That was the least she could do. The trouble started when the hotel quoted the wrong price over the phone, twice confirming it, then asked for double when we arrived. Exhausted from the bus ride, we paid more than agreed. They gave me a room that was a third of the size and looked disgusting. After an hour arguing at the front desk the next day, they moved me to the “actual” room. It didn’t match the photos either: dark, no windows, and smelled awful, which wasn’t surprising with no air coming in. The next day I had to stand at the front desk for another half hour. I felt scammed. The front desk was unfriendly and very incompetent, the advertising was false, and I had to fight for my rights. Please don’t support this place.
