Mountain Retreat

The place was well maintained, private, and had all the necessities to feel at home. We loved the location and the breathtaking mountain views. We’d definitely come back.

The villa itself is a refurbished four-bed place with a rustic cottage feel, colonial-era touches, and modern amenities. It was clean throughout, with crisp white bedding, towels and linen, comfortable mattresses, tidy bathrooms, hot water around the clock, and hand wash. There’s a cleaning team and a caretaker available 24/7 for daily rounds. The large windows have subtle drapes, and the rooms are furnished decently. Details like the stone fireplace, lamps, paintings including Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, and the Spanish terra cotta marble floors make the decor feel thoughtfully put together. There’s also a small kitchen with a stove, microwave, toaster, and fridge. We only made breakfast since eateries and food delivery are easy to find nearby, along with little convenience shops just steps away. Mountain Retreat is in a handy spot on Kashmir Point, directly opposite the Safari Train, close to the Terrace Grill fine dining restaurant, and within walking distance of Mall Road. Despite that, it’s away from the noisy crowds and offers peace and privacy. The walking area around Government House is nearby, with routes both up and down the valley. From the terrace, living room, and bedrooms, you get lovely valley views, and the Kashmir point clouds seem to play hide and seek outside. The terrace and living room also have beautiful sunrise views. There’s good reading material, a prayer mat, complimentary tea and coffee sachets, and basic condiments. Mr. Sher was a wonderful host and kept in touch. The small touches reminded us of Courtesy Baskets at English, European and Northern areas country side B&Bs. It’s pet-friendly too, so furry friends are welcome. A lovely mountain retreat, highly recommended for quality family time. Amazing host!

It felt like home, with full privacy, central heating, hot water, and no road noise. A lovely experience.

The staff were cooperative, and the apartment was clean. The location was ideal too, so it was a great experience.
