The buildings seem fairly well constructed, and the shared areas are looked after. The location is also convenient for several places, including central Gdańsk and Wrzeszcz. The much-discussed closeness of Letnica's new developments to the sea doesn't tell the whole story. Getting to the sea at Brzeźno can be unpleasant. For pedestrians and cyclists there are two routes. The more direct one follows Ulica Letnicka, which has been in terrible condition for years. It apparently won't be properly rebuilt until the new estates are finished, presumably to avoid damaging a new road with hundreds of cement trucks. When that will be is unclear, perhaps in 2-3 years. Some Nowa Letnica residents may have lived there around seven years before the estate gets a proper road. Parts of Ulica Letnicka have no pavement, making the heavy traffic a potential danger. In winter, mud and large puddles collect on its uneven surface. A temporary pavement was added along part of the road, but fences have recently blocked a commonly used shortcut across a single railway track. Local residents seem to have shown their disapproval by removing some fence sections. It all feels typical of the lack of investment for local residents. The second way to the sea is more indirect, over the red bridge in Letnica, and is generally decent for cyclists. A recently built utility road running beside the train tracks had become popular for dog walking and jogging, but it has also been fenced off. Great! There's also a local park of sorts, Jezioro Zaspa. That's neglected too, and it's hard to tell whether it's a place for a walk or somewhere mysterious trash fires might start. Letnica will certainly change as new buildings go up. Nowa Letnica alone is set to have 10 buildings of 16 or more floors, bringing many residents. Hopefully, that will make it harder to neglect local infrastructure. I'm concerned the city and developers may build so much that they can't keep the area from getting routinely gridlocked.
