Villa Pica Paca

Easy to get to Gdańsk Old Town and plenty of restaurants from here. The hotel feels warm and cosy, with a welcoming, friendly atmosphere and all the comforts you could want. Breakfast was great, with lots of choice. A really good hotel all around.

The room furniture was rather dated and not very good quality, with scratches and the like. Paint was peeling in the bathroom too. Still, the hotel was very clean, and the staff were helpful. We had an early train, so they packed us breakfast to take along. The buffet was excellent, especially if you like savoury food in the morning. Great location and service.

The location is fantastic, but the rest of the service was extremely poor. When we arrived and saw our room, we were shocked: paint was falling from the ceiling, there was no bathroom door at all, and a dead fly was stuck in the curtain. The whole room was very dirty. When I raised this with the front desk woman, she said they had no staff and no cleaners. That’s not my problem when I’m just trying to enjoy my holiday; if a hotel has no workers, it should simply close. They offered us an apartment instead, though the woman wasn’t sure it had been cleaned. We went down to look. It wasn’t unreal, but after travelling we were tired and agreed to stay there. Then she said it was only available for one night because other guests were coming the following night, and she might find us another room if one opened up. That seemed too unreliable, so we asked for our money back and had to find another hotel on the spot. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

Breakfast was a real highlight, with salmon, olives, fruit and homemade cakes, and the price was very affordable. My room was spacious and spotless, with a comfortable bed and a stunning view of Gdansk Eye. The place is right in the center, yet surprisingly quiet. The staff were lovely and even let me check in at noon. A hidden gem, thanks so much, ladies!
