A calm, pleasant place to stay.

A well-kept garden surrounds this beautiful, atmospheric cottage, making it a lovely place to relax. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and attentive to the details. It's dog-friendly too, so having a pet along was easy. I highly recommend it and would happily return.

The Wi-Fi reaches throughout the house, though the signal is weak in some spots and the speed is slow. Mobile internet is practically nonexistent, which may suit anyone wanting real isolation. There's a pool table inside and a barbecue area outdoors, both of which we enjoyed. Bring your own charcoal or wood. Breakfast is simple, home-cooked and perfectly adequate for this kind of place, without trying to be restaurant food. The hostess, Irena, was kind and helpful, and communication was easy and friendly. We spent two nights here, and from the start it felt oddly welcoming, almost like arriving at relatives' home after they'd missed us. The welcome was warm and unhurried, and that feeling stayed with us. The main house is entirely wooden, multi-level, and has a strong character and history. I've built a similar wooden house and worked with the material, and now design spaces as an environmental artist, so I notice the atmosphere. This feels like a home shaped by years of life, not a country-style decoration. The surroundings feel natural and harmonious, without any artificial effort to please tourists. There's no trace of the city, visually or emotionally, and for someone coming from the city, the quiet is a real chance to get away from the daily rush. From the balcony we could see other cottages owned by the same people, but their atmosphere is quite different. It's worth thinking ahead about what kind of break you want, because the main house is the one with that genuine rural peace. The many old-looking things inside, a record player, an old radio, sewing machines and other furnishings, feel like part of the home rather than museum pieces. There are portraits and sketches in a similar style, plus photographs that seem connected to the hosts' history. They invite you to pause and look. The house has the usual sounds of wooden construction, footsteps, creaky floors, doors and windows. That's just part of living in a wooden house, and adds to its authenticity. I won't go into detail about the amenities. Everything needed for normal use is there and works, though what feels comfortable is personal. Some people may find the standard high, others simple. The place honestly suits people looking for quiet, nature and atmosphere more than hotel service. It's really about a slower rhythm, the warmth of wood, a sense of time, and getting away from city noise. If that's what you want, you'll probably feel at home.

The trails nearby are beautiful and easy to get to. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay, with a very pleasant atmosphere and an excellent breakfast.
