When we arrived, the room wasn't set up for three people, even though we'd booked for three. I told the owner we had a Booking.com reservation, and he replied, "Oh, there was something there." He brought another set of bedding later, but it smelled stale. We overlooked that at first. On the day we left, he offered not to charge us 20 PLN for parking, which hadn't been mentioned beforehand, and to give us a republic with drawings of Kazimierz in exchange for a Booking review. I hadn't booked through Booking.com, so I couldn't review there; after leaving, I gave him five stars on Google. My friend did leave a Booking review two days later, but it wasn't the highest score because the place wasn't flawless. It wasn't a bad rating either. Then Mr. Michał began persistently calling and texting, saying we owed 100 PLN, though I don't know where that amount came from, and demanding the postcards back. He reported us to Booking.com for "breaking the rules" and misappropriating souvenirs. He'd tried to get a positive review with the offer, and he wasn't satisfied with the review my friend gave. Even after we blocked him, he kept going. He found her former workplace and called the resort's registration office, telling them she owed him a "large sum of money" and that he wouldn't leave it at that. He later called her old work number with the same story. I've never dealt with anything like this. To me, it borders on harassment and left a terrible feeling. I'm at a loss for words. We've since changed the good and very good Google and Booking ratings we originally gave, and they're now bad ratings.

There's a pool on the property, and some rooms open straight onto its area. The rooms look out toward it, and there's parking for four cars on site. Inside, they're clean and tidy, with air conditioning, a private bathroom, a small fridge and TV, plus a little kitchenette with a kettle, tea and coffee, an induction hob and basic utensils. The Market Square in Kazimierz Dolny is about 200 meters away. The walls are quite thin, so you can hear a lot. It also takes a while for the shower's hot water to come through, though it does eventually.

We let the first awkward moments pass because we didn't want to spoil our trip. At the gate, when I arrived with two friends and said we had a reservation starting that day, Mr. Michał just said, "Oh, there was something there." Then he came into the room and told us it wasn't ready for three people, although we'd booked for three. He said he'd bring sheets that evening. The sheets arrived in a bag and smelled damp and stale, and I had to put them on myself. There was an open garage at the side of the building with a jumble of appliances around it, which looked untidy. When we mentioned missing dishes and a dish drying rack, Mr. Michał said he'd argued with his wife and it was her fault. On departure day, he offered us his graphics and to waive a 20 PLN parking charge, which he hadn't mentioned before, if we gave the best reviews on Google and Booking. I still left him a positive Google review without mentioning the issues. My friend gave the place 4/5 on Booking. After we got home, he said the reviews weren't what he expected and started calling and texting my friend. He claimed we hadn't paid for parking and the graphics, said the amount was 100 PLN, and told Booking.com we owed him for the stay. He called the receptionist at her former job saying she owed a large sum and that he was looking for her, and later followed us on social media. We sent him the 100 PLN because, from all this, Mr. Michał seemed dangerous and we didn't know what else he might do. We'd originally let the shortcomings slide because we're conciliatory and didn't want to ruin our holiday, but we've deleted those positive reviews and written about what happened. Judge for yourselves whether someone like Mr. Michał should be running a business like this.

The location makes it easy to get to the market square, restaurants and the Vistula, and there's a gated lot on the property so cars don't have to sit along the road. The apartment itself is great, with a well-equipped kitchen, a large room and bathroom, and good-quality towels and toiletries. The outdoor pool can be reached straight from the apartment. The downsides are the lighting and the noise. The ground-floor place is very dark, and the lights in both the room and bathroom are weak. The bathroom radiators are cold. The walls are thin enough that you can hear the neighbors' conversations, and they're very strict about quiet hours. Not everyone follows them, so we heard stories and music from next door until 2 a.m.!
