Hostel Atlantis

A good fit for students or anyone who doesn't need much fuss, and well priced. The location works for both the tourist spots and less touristy places. The beds were comfortable, though one had a broken support and sagged in the middle. The bathroom smell was unpleasant, but that was the only downside.

I booked the same place twice before, with the same description, but this time got a room without a bathroom and had to pay another 17 Euros to upgrade. The place was clean enough and had the usual international, hipster crowd. I don't think the price was that good either. The week before, I booked a two-bedroom private condo with a big shower and balcony for much less, just a few blocks away. If it had been available, I wouldn't have stayed here. If you want to be around loud university-age punks, this is the place. Not for someone with class and integrity like me.

There’s no elevator, so getting to and from the fourth floor was uncomfortable, especially since you have to go outside whenever you want to smoke. The kitchen was tidy and clean, but only had a toaster and microwave, no proper cooking setup. The bathroom and toilet share a room divided by partitions, so three people could be using the shower, sink, and toilet areas at once, which I found very uncomfortable. The shower was broken, and the metal bunk beds were noisy enough that one person's movement disturbed the other. Street-facing rooms are extremely loud all night, with traffic, people leaving clubs drunk, and ambulance and police sirens. I asked reception the next day to move me to the other side of the building. I was told there were no rooms free and they'd let me know if one opened up, but nothing changed before I checked out after my five-night booking. I wouldn't stay here again.

The only small drawback was having no lift. Otherwise, the room and bathroom were spotless, reception was open 24 hours, and the location between the Old Town and Jewish Quarter was great, with the tram stop just a five-minute walk away. They also offered free luggage storage and earplugs.
