Plantonia

We only spent one night here, but it was one of the best hotel stays we’ve had. The room was clean, thoughtfully put together, and had everything we needed. The underfloor bathroom heating was a nice bonus. The building itself is beautiful, and the interior details are just as lovely. Staff were welcoming and accommodating on both days. The location is ideal, right by the river and Wawel, and only a 10-15 minute walk from the old town. As vegans, we loved that the hotel’s ethics show up in its food and drink as well as its design and materials. Make sure to visit the bakery next door for its amazing plant based options. We’re already planning a longer return, and would give it 10 stars if we could.

The lobby decorations were lovely, and I liked the sustainable materials used for the floors. The location is perfect, near Wawel and the National Museum without being in the busiest part of the center. Breakfast was the most disappointing part. It costs 41 PLN, and I’m not sure they got the order right. The classic vegan breakfast from Zaczyn is shown in the photo I’m attaching. The shakshuka fell short of what I expected, and was more like soup with eggs. The WiFi only works while the TV is on, which seems like a strange, hardly sustainable setup. At check-in, they also charged a deposit of about 500 PLN for our two-night stay and said it would be returned at checkout. This wasn’t mentioned on Booking or their website, and I think that should be strictly prohibited.

The reception area has a relaxed feel, and our room was spacious and had everything we needed for a long weekend. There’s also a lovely bakery right next door for coffee and pastries. We were so happy with our choice of Plantonia Aparthotel and can’t wait to return to Krakow. We’ll definitely book at the Platonia again. The location is a big part of the appeal. The property is just a stone’s throw from the river, with a beautiful walk towards the castle. A walk to the main square takes around 15 minutes, or about five minutes by Uber.

The riverbank, parks, and museums are all close by, and the old town is nearby without being right on top of you. Our rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable, with the option to cook for ourselves. Service was great. We stayed with our two kids and would happily recommend it.
