Radisson RED Hotel & Radisson RED Apartments, Kraków

The games area was good fun, and the hotel is only a short walk from town. It’s also close to the station, which was handy for getting to the Salt Mines. Breakfast had a nice selection, the staff were friendly, and our room was a good size with a lovely hot shower.

We felt really well looked after here, and would happily come back. The rooms were comfortable, and the service in both the hotel and restaurant was excellent. Dinner was especially good. Michal and Marcin made fresh, flavorful Caesar salads, and Sara helped us pick a delicious meal. We also enjoyed a lovely wine that Sara and Sandra recommended.

The main hotel is welcoming and runs efficiently, and my room was clean, bright, and airy. But if you’re considering the annex, there are some things to know. The windows in the bathroom run floor to ceiling and face an office block. The fogging switch is right by the window, so you have to cross the bathroom in the morning to reach it. By then, much of the Deloitte Krakow team may have added another victim to their WhatsApp photo album. There are no instructions, so you end up trying the other light switches first, and the window clears itself overnight. A last little act of comedy, apparently. The lighting controls are another puzzle. I’ve never spent so long trying to find the combination for total darkness. The switch for the clothes hanger, which has no door, is by the bed, while the switch is by the entrance. That means either one last trip through the apartment in the dark, or taking a chance on a switch that might light the whole place up like Sydney on New Year’s Eve. The blackout curtains do get 10/10, at least. The sustainability effort is commendable, though the shower barely manages its main job after a sweaty day, and the bathroom tap doesn’t give you enough water to brush your teeth. You may be left with stale sweat and bad breath, but at least you can imagine you saved a savage, murderous polar bear that day. Apart from those gripes, I’d recommend it if you don’t mind the possibility of ending up on a special interest website.

It’s a modern, very new-feeling hotel, and getting around was easy, just an 8-minute walk from Krakow Central Station. We liked the Welcome Corner and the free pool table and arcade games, including Pac-Man and Space Invaders. The breakfast buffet had quality food, and the rooms were comfortable. VIP members get breakfast included. I also liked the refill stations on every floor, with glass bottles as part of the hotel’s sustainability efforts. The staff were incredibly friendly, and we had a fantastic stay.
