Tutti Frutti Hostel

If you're looking for a cheap place in the center and don't mind these issues, it might suit you, but I don't recommend staying here. The rooms feel damp and smell musty, the blankets are very thin, and the heating doesn't work. The beds are even worse, with every spring noticeable. I wouldn't lift the sheets unless you want to find out where that damp smell comes from. When I told the receptionist, he didn't seem to care.

The main advantage is the location, right inside the Old Town and very convenient for the tourist spots. There's a Tutti Frutti hostel across the street, with the apartments opposite it. The apartment was clean, but lacked basic utensils and a microwave, so the usual idea of cooking something when you want doesn't really work here. Breakfast is included across the road in the hostel's common room, but there isn't much choice. Krakow isn't very big, so I'd choose somewhere a little farther out if it has better amenities.

The staff are great, and the location is great too, though whether you get a quiet room seems to come down to luck. The place was very clean, with a double bed and space to make tea or coffee, and enough room for two. The towels were clean but old, and an extra one on the bathroom floor would help prevent a puddle after every shower. Breakfast was bread, some milk, and maybe a tomato or cucumber if you were lucky. The beds were very uncomfortable. It would be nice to have cooking supplies, a small oven, or even a microwave.

The apartments vary a lot in quality, and we ended up checking into the hostel across the road because it suited our needs better. The location is great, though, and the value is hard to complain about.
