Diuna

The breakfast was decent, though by 10:00 there wasn’t much left. The place is quiet and fairly close to the beach for Międzywodzie, with a grocery store right next door. The center is a long walk away. Those are the upsides for me. Diuna and Marena share a property, but they feel like completely different places. Diuna is a gloomy building, with dark rooms that look like they’re from the Wałęsa era. My room kept smelling of sewage, and the room entrances open onto a shared porch. The windows face a utility area with garbage sorting bins. The bedding was blankets inside pillowcases, and with the rooms cold and dark, I felt chilly. The Booking.com description didn’t match what I found. Parking costs extra and was often crowded, and the kitchen information was misleading. Using the Marena pool also costs extra, though it could be nice on a rainy day. It wasn’t for me. And I have no greeting for the man at the gate. Try smiling and being kinder to people. I’d suggest he pull the stick out of wherever it’s stuck.

There was plenty for children to enjoy: evening Zumba, kids’ entertainment included in the price, and some really good concerts organized by the hotel. The breakfasts were delicious, the room was clean, and the place felt welcoming for families. But we weren’t told that the Diuna Hotel price didn’t include pool access. We had booked a room for three with two beds ready, but one wasn’t made up. I reported it to reception, then went to get the linens myself while the cleaners were in the next room. The Ukrainian staff misunderstood what I was asking for, which made for an embarrassing situation. Reception never checked back to see whether the problem had been sorted out. Also, the shower door was so worn that water flooded the bathroom while I was showering, and there was no kettle in the room.

I took my children to summer camp here for several years in a row, and it’s a great place for kids, with a big area around the building. It’s peaceful, surrounded by trees, and very close to the beach. The rooms are clean and tidy, with a large TV. The sockets are behind the beds, so you have to move them to reach the outlets, but they are there. One downside: the ground floor can be a bit cold.

The terrace was set up with a table and two chairs. There was no kettle in the room, and the only available socket was in the bathroom, which can be a real nuisance with children. The service in the hotel next door was a 6 out of 6, and the whole facility was just as good. The main reception is in a separate building.
