The breakfast was excellent and the location worked very well for sightseeing in Torun. But I was unhappy with the service and the room. I stayed in room 404 for two nights, and its air conditioner never worked properly. I reported it, and the front desk said it had been fixed, but when I returned from my tour it still wasn’t working. On the second morning, the manager promised either to fix it or move me. I got back from my plans around 10:00 pm, exhausted, and the woman at the front desk said the owner had told her the air conditioner was fixed, so the room was fine to use. It still wasn’t working. I don’t understand why the staff kept avoiding a solution. Maybe they thought I’d be leaving soon and guests only stay a few nights, so it didn’t matter to them to take advantage of us.

We booked Hotel Bulwar for an August stay because the listing said it had air conditioning, which we considered essential. But our room was stuffy and hot from the moment we walked in, and the air conditioning was either missing or completely out of order. It was a miserable, sweaty night. Opening the window didn’t help much. A lively bar nearby brought in loud music and chatter, so we couldn’t sleep with it open either. We were left choosing between stale, hot air and noise, and barely got any rest. The location is lovely and the staff seemed pleasant, but the lack of working air conditioning and the bar noise overshadowed those positives. Hotel Bulwar should be clear about the room features. During summer, the room wasn’t suitable for a comfortable night, and I’d warn future guests to look into this before booking.

The rooms had everything we could want. The receptionist welcomed us with a big smile and was so kind, and the bartender and breakfast servers were just as lovely. We had a perfect stay!

The hotel’s staff really stood out. They spoke English fluently, were very friendly, and went out of their way to make us feel welcome, from giving tips about local attractions to providing quick, courteous service. The hotel is also within walking distance of the main sights. We were there for the 4th of July celebrations, and appreciated the family-friendly setting, including a strict no-smoking rule in the gardens and on the terraces. Bulwar Hotel is a fantastic choice for a visit to the area, and I highly recommend it.

The rooms are adequate, but we couldn’t control the air conditioning or heat ourselves. It was so hot in our room that we sweated all night and couldn’t sleep. At the service desk, they said someone needed to come in and adjust it, but no one was available. We’re on vacation trying to relax, and instead we’re miserable in a sweat box. We still have two more nights here, and I wouldn’t recommend this place.
