Hotel Zamkowy

The setting is what makes this hotel special. Seeing the castle from my room at night was beautiful, and the view from the bathroom was another nice surprise. The rooms are a decent size, typical European style, with a good bathroom and Wi-Fi. Reception was helpful and gave us the information we needed. Parking was the drawback: it costs extra, and when we left there was no space beside the hotel, so we parked where people park for the castle. To exit, we had to call the number on the gate to have it raised. I’d recommend the place for its beautiful location.

The breakfast buffet had a great spread of fresh hot dishes, baked goods, fruit, juices and cappuccinos. Staff were kind and welcoming, and everything around the hotel and castle grounds was clean and felt safe. Our room looked right onto the historic, breathtaking Zamek Ksiaż. It’s a lovely place to bring your family, and a good value. The castle alone is worth the drive.

The beds were comfortable and breakfast was good. It’s a convenient place to spend the night near the castle, though the quality may not justify the price. I also didn’t like the unpleasant smell in the first-floor hallway.

The dinner included with our room was awful. We couldn’t choose from a menu, only the assigned selection, and the waitress seemed to forget our tea or coffee order. After waiting 15 minutes, I asked about it and she was surprised, asking when I’d ordered. The nearby hotel and restaurant offered much better food and service. In our first-floor room, the curtains were ugly and hard to reach once lowered. It was 4 C outside and around 15 C inside, with a bathroom floor too cold to walk on without slippers. I reported it and got an extra quilt and blanket, but the next evening it was still the same. After I complained again and said I’d leave and request a chargeback, they moved us to a ground-floor room that was finally warmer. Never again.
