Hotel Piast

This worked well for a short stay when I didn't need to spend much time in the room. It's a two-minute walk from the train station, and the old town is about 15 minutes away on foot. I slept perfectly, the bed was very comfy, the room temperature was just right, and the staff were polite. The little details may bother you, though. There were two tea bags but no coffee or milk, and I had to move the table to plug in the kettle. A couple of lights didn't work, including the one above the bathroom mirror. The hairdryer was very old and didn't work properly.

For an economy hotel, it was a very pleasant surprise. The room was huge, and breakfast had lots of choices. The train station is right across the street, and you can walk to Stare Miasto. I'd definitely stay here again.

The breakfast was surprisingly good, with a continental spread of hot and cold food, and the bathroom was spotless with a good working shower. The rooms are spacious, with a desk, a couple of chairs and a wall-mounted TV. I had a nice three-night stay in this city centre hotel, and it's good value for the price. The main downside was the bed, which was uncomfortable, and the pillows, which were basically nonexistent. Remember that the hotel is right outside the main train station and a major tram stop, with buses and cars passing outside the rooms all day. It's about a 20-minute walk to the old town or cathedral island.

We really enjoyed our stay. There was plenty to see and do nearby, and the location is excellent: directly across from the train station, with buses and trams right outside. The staff were very polite and spoke good English.
