The accommodation was great, super clean, and in a superb location. Breakfast was beautiful, and I’d definitely recommend staying here. It was my first time in Zakopane, travelling from the UK with my Polish girlfriend, and we had an amazing stay. Thanks for your hospitality.

Two years ago, I was welcomed warmly and enjoyed my stay, so we chose this place for a holiday again. This time was terrible. We travelled seven hours to Zakopane after booking six nights for over 2250 PLN and paying a deposit in advance. Reception had agreed that we could pay the balance the next day because we planned to exchange currency. Instead, I was threatened and pressured, told I’d have to leave by 11.00am if I didn’t pay the full amount right away. My deposit covered at least two nights, so I couldn’t understand why they were pushing me so hard. The owner was incredibly rude, and the receptionist asking whether I had enough money on my credit card felt insulting. We wanted to pay cash, not by card, and did pay the rest the next day, but the whole atmosphere ruined our stay. We’ve travelled around Europe for six weeks and have never been treated this way. I have to admit the room and towels were very clean, but a nice room alone doesn’t make people happy. We’d planned to come back every other year, but after this experience we’ll have to find somewhere else in Zakopane. Recommendations are welcome.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff, including the girl at reception and the gentleman hosting, were friendly and nice. The location was excellent, within walking distance of the centre and very close to Nosal skiing centre. The place is beautiful, the room was very warm even in winter, and breakfast was really good. It was buffet style, with the host also making hot dishes individually, such as scrambled eggs, omelets, pancakes, and Polish "racuchy," which I’d highly recommend. Tea, coffee, and water were available for guests. The gentleman had limited English, so try to learn a little Polish! The wooden building does carry sound, so you could hear people in other rooms. I also found the checkout cutoff at 6pm very inconvenient. We tried to arrange a late check-in but were refused. My boyfriend was landing late at Krakow airport, and instead of travelling to Zakopane with him, I had to go earlier by train to get the keys.

The architecture is beautiful, and the surroundings are amazing. The good points pretty much stop there, though. The rooms are small, and because the building is wooden you hear every step and voice, which makes it hard to have a peaceful evening. Breakfast was weak, with very little choice, for example, just one lemon for all the guests. On the fourth day we had to ask staff to bring toilet paper and take out the rubbish. The bins were tiny, smaller than my cat... or hamster.
