San Miguel Plaza Hotel

The parking lot is a bit awkward, but there’s always a spot.

The hotel is clean and the parking feels safe, but some things need updating, like the furniture and TV. There’s no vending machine or ice maker. Breakfast is going to be eliminated, and even though it was included in my rate, the staff couldn't provide the early breakfast I asked for.

The beds could be more comfortable. Also, the front desk should know whether the room they assign uses a hard key or a plastic key, so tired guests don't have to wait for someone to bring the right one. 🙁 Other than that, it's an excellent place to stay.

The staff are really friendly, and there’s convenient transportation nearby, including an elevated railway to San Juan and taxis that the hotel clerks have to call for you. There’s also a Dunkin Donuts close by, a Burger King about 2 blocks away, and a shopping mall across the road with several fast-food restaurants. As a place to stay for business in the area, it’s a level five economy hotel. The rooms look like they were decorated in the early 1990s, and the TV sets seem to be from then too, with extremely poor reception. This isn’t the spot for a romantic vacation. This was before the hurricane, and I understand the hotel’s condition has worsened since.
