The Village at Palmas del Mar

Gina made sure we were looked after, and the stay was fantastic. I spent a weekend here with friends who had never visited Puerto Rico, and they were impressed. The location is top notch, and the apartments were roomy enough and really clean. Gina is great.

There was a stain on the fitted sheet, though I couldn’t tell if it was lipstick or chocolate. I also found chewed gum on the floor and very long hair beside the bed. The room definitely hadn’t been cleaned thoroughly.

I was very disappointed and had major inconveniences throughout the stay. The Village needs serious maintenance and upgrades. Our shower head fell off the first night, but management said there was no engineer on site to fix it. The cotton shower curtain let water go everywhere, so that was one shower I couldn’t use. The WiFi didn’t work, and management said it was tricky. The room was listed for eight people but had only six towels, and they said they had no more. The bedding covers were awful; when I asked for more, they also said they had none. The room details listed two twin beds, but I wasn’t given that room because they said it wasn’t available, leaving my group short on bedding. I don’t understand how a room that was selected and booked could be unavailable. The villa had a kitchen but no pots or pans, which management said they don’t provide. I had to buy a set to use it. The fridge’s ice maker and water dispenser were broken, and I was told to buy ice and water at the local market. There were coffee grounds left in the coffee pot, so it hadn’t been cleaned. The oven was filthy and smoked from burnt grease stuck on the bottom, so I couldn’t use it. Pool towels weren’t provided, and the pool was so small it might as well be a fountain. Even light bulbs didn’t work. So many things were broken or kept breaking, and nothing was done to fix the problems. All I heard was that they don’t provide it, don’t have it, or can’t fix it. There weren’t even brochures at the front desk for island activities. For the largest resort in Puerto Rico, this place doesn’t meet the standard it should. I’ve never had such poor service at any establishment and will never stay here or recommend it.

The ocean and mountain view from the balcony was great. That was the only good part, since the room wasn’t clean. There was old chewing gum on the floor, holes in the sheets, and clumps of old hair behind the pillows.
