Bali Hotel Adults Only Isla Verde, a Trademark by Wyndham

The crowd was more mature than we expected. I knew it was an adults-only hotel, but most of the couples and groups seemed to be around 55-60+. The room gets four stars from me because the water didn’t always get warm enough for a shower. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is beautiful, the staff are very friendly, and the beach is within walking distance. There’s plenty nearby, and drives to the airport, dining, Old San Juan, ATV, and other spots are all fairly short.

Melissa at the front desk made this trip for me. After a long day of travel, she greeted me with a huge smile and gave me such good tips that my night was instantly better. She went above and beyond throughout my stay, and I’m grateful for her energy and personality. The adults-only setting was peaceful, too, with a pool bar, friendly bartender, good drinks, and a perfect Piña colada for the heat. There were lots of comfy chairs and outdoor spots to unwind, plus a delightful restaurant. The beach and several other restaurants are only about a five-minute walk away. Everything was excellent, and I’ll stay here again next time I’m in PR.

The building is lovely, but traffic from the major road nearby was loud in our room and made it hard to relax. Breakfast was just okay and exactly the same each day. The muffins were very dry, and the hard-boiled eggs had a rubbery, chewy texture. The pool itself was small and nice, with a pretty waterfall, but its steps felt slimy and slippery. There was no handrail, and I heard several guests express concern. I didn’t see anyone cleaning the pool, though I may have missed them. Marble floors run throughout, and the walkways to the rooms have no roof or awning. They often squeegeed the areas after intermittent rain, but the main paths still felt like a definite fall risk.

Dinner at Laut was fantastic. We hadn’t booked ahead, so we took seats at the bar and got to talk with chef Jorge when he came around. We told him how much we liked the unusual menu. The outdoor continental breakfast could use more pastry choices, rather than just bagels and croissants. We enjoyed our stay, especially the pool area and the friendly, accommodating staff, and would definitely come back.
