Isla Verde One Block From The Beach

Our flight was cancelled at the last minute, so we scrambled to find a room. This was the cheapest available nearby, though it still cost $500 for a Saturday night during spring break. We booked and were in the room within half an hour, four hours before check-in. The first-floor poolside room was perfect, and the whole place felt like a fancy resort. The room and pool were both very nice. The poolside bar served good drinks, and the friendly staff stayed open an extra hour so a few of us could keep hanging out and drinking for the world baseball classic. Wish we'd stayed longer!

The cafe downstairs does delicious espresso, and the hotel is close to downtown as well as the airport. It has a big, well laid-out room and a gorgeous pool, with a great beach just five minutes away. I'd stay again as a landing pad when arriving in or leaving PR.

The beach club was the best part of my stay. Its setup and atmosphere were excellent, and the complimentary shuttle ran from 10am to 6pm. The hotel itself is new, with a modern look, a nice pool, and a great location, including lots of walkable restaurants like the well-known Los Pinos Cafe. Service was slow and uneven across the property, which seemed short-staffed. Even getting water at the downstairs restaurant often took too long. Breakfast was disappointing and felt more like a Hyatt Place offering than a Hyatt Centric. I'm a World of Hyatt Globalist, but received no recognition, welcome, upgrade, or meaningful benefits. I also didn't expect them not to accept American Express, which was inconvenient and should have been made clear ahead of time. It's a good physical property with a great beach club, but better staffing, service consistency, breakfast, elite recognition, and payment transparency would make a difference.

Our room had a pool view and AC. The pools stay open until 10pm, and you can get drinks by the pool. There's an in-house restaurant where you can buy food or a pass for the buffet breakfast, plus a coffee shop. It wasn't crowded with kids, and the front desk was kind. Depending on what you buy, you can get private beach access, with a shuttle to a private beach club. Billy and sam drove us and were so kind. At the beach club there are two pools, one adults-only with a swim-up bar, plus a restaurant and two shops. I'll be back, 10/10. It's in a nice area compared with the rest of downtown.
