I enjoyed the beautiful building well enough, but the woman who met us with the key was quite rude. We were on time to meet her outside, then stood there with our bags while she showed up 45 minutes late. She didn’t acknowledge the delay or offer an apology. When I finally pointed out that she was late, she curtly said, “We’re on island time here,” basically telling me to deal with it. I can handle a 45-minute wait, but there should still be an apology.

We loved how easy it was to walk everywhere in VSJ, and the apartment is in a perfect spot. The friendly, helpful correspondence I had with the wife on the property management team was another plus. But her husband came to replace a blown light bulb and was verbally aggressive, which left both me and my travel partner uncomfortable and unsafe. The listing photos for the Casablanca apartment should make the “open patio” clearer. It’s open to the air, so rain comes in and you can’t walk through without getting wet feet. The space also smelled sickeningly musty, and there were cockroaches in the kitchen. With the open patio there’s no sound barrier from the festive nightlife and nearby restaurants in VSJ, and my travel partner and I slept poorly because of the smell and noise. The misleading impression of the open space and the husband’s behavior would make me hesitate to recommend this apartment.

I loved our stay here so much, and I can’t wait to come back. Our apartment was right on the street, with windows and doors we could open so we could sit and enjoy the evenings. The location was perfect. I’m not sure even five stars says enough.
