The views from the top are breathtaking, with ocean, city, and mountain scenery. At the highest habitable floor, try the San Juan Sunrise apartments for those views in a contemporary setting. The former Hotel Clarion and Darlington is now a multi-use building with permanent residents and short-term rentals run by different owners. At 28 stories, it's one of the tallest buildings in San Juan. The top floor is a large, projecting rectangular roof that looks like an air traffic control tower. It used to be the Windows to the Caribbean restaurant. The neighborhood is very good, and Centro de Convenciones/El Distrito is about a 10-minute walk away. El Distrito, Centro de Convenciones, Old San Juan, Condado, and Santurce are all nearby, making the building a good base for visiting Puerto Rico's capital. There are many short- and long-term rentals here, and their quality varies. Some apartments are beautiful, modern, and updated, while others are less so.

The service was awful. When I arrived, nobody told me cleaning was included, so I paid to have the apartment cleaned myself. After I asked several times, they agreed it was part of the stay. Then they kept scheduling cleaning appointments, but nobody showed up, throwing off my plans and schedule for the day. A guy in their office, Joel, kept promising it would happen but didn't even check whether the cleaner had arrived on time. I guess I'll have to pay to get it cleaned again. Most of the staff don't understand English very well, which is a huge problem. Never stay there!!!

I'm staying here now. It looked really clean when we first arrived, but I saw a German roach crawling all over the cabinets while sleeping on the futon in the kitchen. The elevators are a bit rough, too. Their doors close very fast, and you have to step up to get inside.

Don't book with these fraudulent people. The pictures of the place you're staying in are completely fake. No water, no air conditioning, and no refrigerator. New Year's Eve was a nightmare. Worst of all, nobody answered, and they didn't reply to emails. Don't book anything under this name or East Island Resort.
