Casa De Kathy

Casa de Kathy is in a handy spot near the beach, groceries, bars, restaurants, and canoe tours, so I could get to what I needed easily. The host was kind and gracious from the moment I arrived. My room was comfortable and spotless, and the care put into keeping it clean showed. Air conditioning and ceiling fans were especially welcome in the tropical heat, giving me a cool place to come back to after exploring. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable, convenient place to stay in Vieques, with a welcoming host and an easy, comfortable stay.

I arrived knowing nothing about Vieques, and was lucky to find Kathy’s information and spend about five weeks at her place. She’s a gracious, warm host who’s around when you need her without getting in your way. As a longtime resident, she’s happy to point out hidden beaches and other spots you might not come across otherwise. The home is beautiful and has every amenity I could want, in a perfect location. I left with a new friend and so many treasured memories of Kathy and this amazing island.

As a solo traveler in Vieques, I found it tough to figure things out, but Kathy gave me the information and gear I needed, including chairs, an umbrella, and snorkeling equipment. The mornings on her balcony, reading and looking out at the sea, were lovely. She paid attention to every detail of my stay, and we had wonderful breakfasts where she shared her experiences and thoughts, which added a lot to my Puerto Rico trip. We even spent a great day at a cool hidden beach she showed me. I loved staying at Casa de Kathy!

I slept better here than anywhere else on the island. The bedrooms have air conditioning, fans, and light-blocking louvers on the windows, and the place is comfortable, clean, and has everything you might need. Kathy knows the island well and went out of her way to update us about what was happening each day, including ferry cancellations and rougher surf at some beaches. You can walk to the Malecon in Esperanza from this great location. Highly recommend Casa de Kathy, and I can’t wait to return.
