We had a long weekend booked for the following week in February, but flooding in Portugal was making the property hard to reach. Management got in touch to warn us and offered to cancel the booking. We’re grateful they communicated honestly and considered tourists’ comfort and wellbeing while dealing with the disaster as locals themselves. Thank you a thousand times for such wonderful service. I also gave the rooms and location five stars so they’d get the full rating they deserve.

Breakfast outside in the sun, with the pool in front of us, was a 10/10. Everything was amazing: a peaceful place, great staff, clean rooms, and very comfortable beds.

Be careful. They’ll offer attractive-looking rooms at a good price even when those rooms are no longer available, then lie to the booking website too. We drove 300 km with a newborn to stay here, and I’m afraid they aren’t honest. The €200 suites are full of cobwebs and large spiders, and the showers are moldy.

The landscape looks good, but the furniture desperately needs renovating, and the rural conditions aren’t what the photos suggest. There seems to be a well-known bed bug problem here. I was badly bitten, had booked two nights, and left after the first. The workers were kind, but management was very rude.

We only stayed one night at Casa das Cegonhas, but it was enough to enjoy how peaceful it is. The bed was so comfortable, breakfast was very nice, and the staff were kind and helpful. We can’t wait to return.
