I’d visited a few years ago for drinks at the piano bar and had always meant to stay overnight. I finally did, and it was wonderful to spend the night in this place that takes you right back to 1922, with such a warm, beautiful atmosphere. The bed, huge bathroom, high ceilings, marvelous decor, music, generous and delicious breakfast, staff, and surroundings were all lovely. Maria Joao, the owner, goes out of her way to make you feel at home, which is rare these days. There’s a quiet pool too. If you’re after somewhere that feels true in every way, this is it. I’ll definitely come back for a longer stay and to explore every corner of this beautiful vintage hotel.

Even the library and bar add to the old-time feel of this charming vintage hotel. It looks much as it might have when it opened in 1922, with antique furniture, paintings, and ceramics displayed throughout the public areas. There’s a pleasant garden out back for relaxing, plus a swimming pool. Some evenings have live music, and a piano player showed up one night during my stay. Staying here really does feel like stepping back in time.

A quiet, familiar guesthouse with a vintage feel, like an authentic glimpse of the old days.

The rooms are getting a little old, but the amazing staff and location more than make up for it. It’s a really charming little hotel with a great breakfast, and I’ll definitely come back.

Loved the atmosphere at this super cool hotel, keeping its vibe alive across three generations. Hope it carries on for many more!
