We spent a month here while working remotely, and would gladly come back. The apartment suited us as a couple or would work for a family too, with a roomy living area, sea views, a well-equipped kitchen, fast wifi, and a balcony with a barbecue. Having a car made a big difference. The place sits between the mountains and the sea, about 15 minutes from either, and there's a private parking spot. A bus stop is right outside but buses are infrequent, so I can't picture staying here without a car. There's a great coffee bar just upstairs, a local poncha bar about a five-minute walk away that's worth trying, and good pizza roughly ten minutes on foot. Arco can be a little damp because of the weather, but that wasn't a problem for us. We explored Madeira on weekends and had an amazing time.

We've enjoyed staying at Casa Mao-Cheia so much that we're already booked for our fourth holiday there. It's new, very clean, fully equipped, and the beds are wonderfully comfortable. The panoramic views are lovely, and the quiet setting works well for levada walks. Lurdes, Joseph and Juline are always welcoming and friendly, and nothing seems like too much trouble. We've had many lovely evenings at Bar Africano, shopped at the nearby supermarket, and used the local amenities. A car comes in handy, though the bus stop for Ribeira Brava and Funchal is very close. Already looking forward to going back.

The apartment was spacious and clean, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Mrs. Juline and her mom were really friendly and kind. Mrs. Juline also has a lovely coffee shop upstairs. Definitely try the homemade Empanada. We recommend this place 100%.

A clean, modern flat with great facilities. The hosts were really friendly and helpful, and there's a cool little bar downstairs with delicious coffee and snacks.
