Hotel De Arganil

The room was spotless and had everything we needed. Lilliana was wonderful, getting us checked in quickly and looking after the bar and fire with such ease. I highly recommend this place if you’re in the area.

We really liked the owners’ son, who drove us around to introduce us to local restaurants. Every place he recommended was great. The family running this charming, classic hotel are lovely, and the beds were comfortable; the bathroom was spacious too. There’s a bar, a roomy lounge and a small patio outside. Breakfast had eggs, bacon, fresh fruit, breads and pastries, cereal, yogurt, espresso, jams and honey, and the hotel was very clean. The downside was the almost constant noise from TVs in the bar and lounge, plus the neighbor’s dog barking a lot. They can’t control the dog, and TVs seem to be on all the time in Portuguese restaurants and bars. Still, we had a nice stay.

Sr Ventura, the owner, is a real gentleman and a pleasure to chat with in Portuguese. The hotel has a bar on the first floor and memories of the Rally de Portugal, due back in May 2019. It’s the only hotel in Arganil, with clean, reasonably priced rooms, good air conditioning and a nice breakfast.

The owner was really helpful and showed us where we could park the bikes under cover. The rooms were comfortable, and breakfast was lovely.
