Villa Garden Braga Hotel

The building has some character, but that didn’t make up for the damp room or the way our concerns were handled. We stayed one night, and the room had a strong musty smell with mold on the walls and ceiling. There was condensation trapped between the window panes too. The next morning we both had irritated lungs and an itchy cough, and the room didn’t feel healthy to sleep in. When we mentioned it to the hotel manager, our concerns were laughed off and dismissed with the claim that “it’s not mold.” We felt completely unheard. Breakfast was a bit underwhelming as well, since the coffee machine only made moccachinos. I found the stay disappointing.

The staff really made the stay for me. They were warm, quick to help, and great at what they do. I also loved the location, the beautiful art throughout the property, and the breakfasts. The room was lovely, and there was a cosy bar plus an attractive pool and terrace. Just fantastic.

Beatrice spent over an hour helping me get my backpack back after I left it in the Uber, and even the Uber staff joined the search. I’ve never had service like that. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and neat and met our standards. I recommend it 100%. 👌

The mattresses were foam rather than innerspring, and much too firm for us. We could also hear nearly everything from neighboring rooms, including conversations and bathroom sounds. We stayed three nights in January in the “new wing,” which looked about 50 years old. It was cold and drafty, with a persistent chill even though the room heater worked. Older Portuguese buildings can be like that, but the sound insulation was among the worst I’ve experienced recently. The staff were great, breakfast was good, and parking was convenient, but the infrastructure was really poor. I’ve stayed at Villa Garden, Vila Gale, and Burgus Tribute in Braga, and I wouldn’t recommend Villa Garden Braga.
