The site is very clean and the Wi-Fi was excellent. It's a good base for touring by car, but a little too far out to walk to restaurants. Upper units are reached only by a steep, winding stairway, and there are steps around the site with no ramps, so it won't suit people with mobility problems. A van lets you watch UK channels. We were a couple in a unit meant for six, and six people would feel cramped, especially with just one bathroom.

We had a fabulous week at Ponta Grande, which made a good base for exploring the area, even though late October and early November may not be the best time weather-wise to visit The Algarve. The resort is in Sesmarias, conveniently placed between Lagoa, Carvoeiro, Ferragudo and Portimao, with the coast and countryside easy to reach. There's a handy little shop up the road, plus several bars and restaurants nearby. The resort looks a bit dated and tired, but we found it fine. Our well-equipped apartment was just moments from the shared pools, and it had recently been upgraded with WiFi and Portuguese Now TV, including YouTube. We would happily return.

Great spot in sesmaris, near carverio. The local beaches are spectacular, but you'll really need a car to make the most of the location.

The location was good and the manager helpful, but sadly the mattresses were awful and the apartment was dated.
