Vale del Rei Hotel & Villas

This was our fourth visit to Vale Del Rei, and once again we had a wonderful stay. We can't fault it. The location is peaceful, the rooms have been beautifully refurbished, breakfasts are excellent, and the staff are so helpful and delightful. It's a special place, and we wouldn't choose anywhere else. Thank you, and we're looking forward to next year 🙏🏻

The staff made our anniversary trip feel really special. I’d mentioned our fifth anniversary when booking, and they surprised us with champagne when we arrived. Everyone was so kind and went out of their way to make it a lovely memory. MUITO OBRIGADA! The location is a little out of the way, which is also why it’s such a peaceful getaway. With a rental car, everything is within about a 15-minute drive, and Bolt or Uber are handy if you want wine with dinner. We visited in mid-October and had 25-degree weather, so swimming was still perfect, and the heated pool was great when it got chilly. The gardens and pools are breathtaking in person, even better than the photos. I’d book again in a heartbeat.

The setting and pool are beautiful, and the rooms were clean and well equipped. Breakfast had loads of choice and was excellent quality. The staff were attentive, friendly, and spoke English, which was a real plus. I was impressed by the quality for the price and honestly couldn’t fault the place. Keep up the good work, I’ll be back soon.

The villa was spacious, clean and tidy, with lots of hot water and a well equipped kitchen. We had a small patio that could use a little updating compared with some of the others, but it worked fine for us. We asked reception for an iron, and they said they’d bring one the next day, but it never turned up. We were in villa 26 during a quiet week, with lovely gardens and no trouble getting sunbeds. There are two pools. We mostly used the main one because you could get a drink there. The cats were just two that we saw, kept to themselves and stayed away from the food area, in case that matters to anyone who doesn’t like cats. Our arrival was disappointing. We got there just after 10:30, but couldn’t get into the villa until almost 5. We’d booked an early flight to gain an extra holiday day, and there weren’t many other new arrivals, so we thought the rooms might be prioritised for cleaning. The shuttle to Carvoeiro runs three times a day, with none in the evening. That didn’t affect us, as Ubers were cheap and easy to find in June. Service at the pool bar was slow even with just one or two other customers. One day I ordered a Caesar salad and got a wrap, then another wrong salad. Nobody came back, so after half an hour I cancelled the food. Two other tables had problems that day, and this was the only restaurant open while we were there. It’s a lovely place for a quiet week away. Looking back, we wouldn’t return because we’d prefer somewhere a bit closer to a main village or town, though not right in the centre. That part was our mistake.
