The only real downside was the steep walk uphill to get there. The rooms, bathroom, and kitchen were all excellent, and I'd recommend staying here.

We slept well despite the student parties nearby. They happen often, which makes sense with the university next door in this student-focused city, but neither my girlfriend nor I were bothered by them. The rooms were clean, cozy, nicely equipped, and each had its own bathroom. The large kitchen was well stocked, the rules were clear, and the view made the uphill walk worthwhile. The stressful part was the electricity trouble. We had to move rooms during our stay, and then were told to move again while we were out because the new room had already been reserved. Luckily we'd left the keys to our original room, so we were able to stay there. I know the owners weren't really at fault, but it was still annoying. In general, it's a very nice hostel, though those problems made things difficult.

The staff made a real difference during our stay at Epic Days Guest House. They were warm and attentive, and quickly helped when we ran into a small issue with our room. We felt looked after the whole time. It was also easy to get to local sights and places to eat from the guest house. Our room was clean, well cared for, and comfortable to come back to after days out in Coimbra. For what we paid, the quality and comfort were better than expected. We had a wonderful trip, would recommend the place, and hope to return.

The location is hard to beat for being central, though getting around means dealing with steep slopes whether you're on foot or in a car. Parking nearby on the street is available. It's free from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. and on weekends; we paid about 4 euros for six hours, so it wasn't very expensive. There's also a shared kitchen with decent equipment. The room was very clean, but it slanted to one side and made sleeping a little awkward since you tend to roll that way. The photos use a very wide-angle lens, so the rooms feel smaller in person than you'd expect. We were two adults and two kids, and it was a tight fit. If you'll spend a lot of time in the room, this may not be for you. We were usually out until late, so it didn't bother us much. The place feels more like a youth hostel than a hotel. Now I know what to expect and would come back, because the central spot makes up for the quirks.
