Guest House Infante Dom Henrique

The price was very affordable, and the place looked cozy, but the sheets and towels were dirty, or maybe just stained. There was no heating, the Wi-Fi only lasted about half an hour, and the water never got very hot. In winter, that left the room freezing. The extra blanket was the one thing that helped.

We arrived to find that the room we’d booked wasn’t available, and nobody had warned us. The room they gave us instead was so dirty I had to buy cleaning products and do it myself. We also had two cockroaches for company, though at least they were quieter than the neighbors. It’s cheap, sure, but if you can spend 5 euros more per day, I’d say get away from this place as fast and as far as you can. It’s a mess.

The room was clean and nice, and the staff were helpful. Still, the traffic noise was really intrusive early and late, so better double or maybe even triple glazing would help. They were missing a TV remote, and I thought someone could’ve made a quick trip to the store for one. Having to keep getting up to change channels was annoying.

I never got to stay here. They overbooked, then sent me to a disgusting nearby hotel that wasn’t anywhere near the standard I expected for what I’d paid. They also told Booking, the service I used, that I had stayed at the alternative, which wasn’t true. I had to find an Airbnb at the last minute and pay a little more.
