The location is the only thing I can praise. It doesn't make up for how uncomfortable the stay was or for the basic things that were missing, even at a budget place. Before we arrived, I asked for a blanket. They asked, “For what?”, as if a blanket had some other purpose. I explained I was cold and got an “ok,” but no blanket ever showed up. We were also told there would be two safes. The first opened fine, but the keys for the second, which covered the room door and entrance, weren't there. When we called the people in charge, they seemed completely unaware. From other Booking comments, this apparently happens quite often. The owner came by with a spare key. As soon as we got into the room, there was a strong smell of smoke. It clung to everything for all three days. The rug and pillows were filthy, and there wasn't even a trash bin. That night, after going out, we couldn't get the door open. We had to call the owner in the middle of the night. It took him a lot of effort to open it, and he said that if another room were available, he'd move us, and that he'd refund us. Past reviews suggested those promises are often made but not kept. For the next two days we had to shove hard against the door every time, nearly breaking it. During that same conversation, the owner said this was unusual and blamed a previous guest for stealing the key and television. That was odd, since comments suggested the TV had been gone for a long time, and we'd specifically asked for a room without one. The story felt so untrustworthy that it made us think this was a well-rehearsed response to a “crisis.” We were also told someone would fix the door the next day. Nobody came, and nobody contacted us again. Shameful.

The staff were friendly, and the location is central. The city center is steep, though, and parking is a pain. Try paid parking outside the center. The market lot is close, but it's paid too, except on Sundays. The building is very old, with no elevator, so expect to climb three floors. The apartment has had a basic renovation, and the furniture and equipment are basic too. There's barely enough room for four, and the mattresses are old. The sofa bed and extra bed weren't comfortable.

It's right in the center, but you can't get there by car. The windows let in all the street noise. This is a university town, and with drunk students making a racket every night, sleep was difficult.

You can hear a lot of noise from the apartments upstairs. The place is poorly equipped too, with almost nothing for the kitchen, no plates, pans or cutlery, and there's no dining table.
